About

I am Assistant Professor of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. Previously, I was Assistant Professor of Political Science and Faculty Associate in the Center for Political Studies and the Latina/o Studies Program at the University of Michigan.

I immigrated from Bogotá, Colombia at the age of 12 and was raised in White Plains, NY. I received a B.A. in International Relations and Ethnic Studies with Honors from Brown University. I earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

My research and teaching interests are in race, ethnicity and immigration, political behavior and representation with a specific focus on the sociopolitical incorporation of the Latina/o/x community in the U.S.

In my spare time, I love spending with my family, go on hikes and bike rides during the summer months or skiing and ice skating in the winter.
